Default Cat Flu - Has your cat got it? Here's some help!

Hi guys,

After 4 years of my life (i'm still young you know) caring for cats and 1 dog, I have collected infomation about Cat Flu and what you can do to care for your cat if it has Cat Flu.

Are adult cats more likely to get Cat Flu than kittens?

NO , Adult cats are less likely to catch Cat Flu than kittens the reason behind this is because kitten cats have a low ammune system and is not a fully funchunal ammune system, the other reason maybe it could get it is because it was the brunt of the litter meaning one of the sisters negleated the other sister in the group and made the sister become depressed, which also means the ammune system is low and won't protect as it should, A WORD OF WARNING: IF THE PROBLEM IS A LONG TERM PROBLEM THE INSURERS WILL NOT INSURE YOU FOR THE PAYMENT AND THE TREATMENT FEES! CHECK WITH THE BREEDER TO SEE IF ANY REMAINING PROBLEMS HAVE AFFECTED THIS KITTEN!

Another tip: Please makesure you know that the cat has the right jabs and drugs to protect the kitten from getting the Cat Flu this might be dangerous if not caught in the eairly stages.

How to look after the cat if it has cat flu.

It is recommended you clean their eyes and their noses and keep it clear of any obstructions this will allow clean air to flow to their lungs clearing ANY of the snot and other things which are still in their system.

The main thing is to take them to the vets get anti-biotics and give the cat a dosage which corresponds to the vets instructions, ANTI-BIOTICS CAN BE DANGEROUS IF ABUSED!

If it does get worse then please take them to the VETS.

My advice:

Because I have had a kitten (Which I still have) with Cat Flu and it is a carrier of it, please keep a eye on the cat and it being outside seems to help clear their nostrols and lungs of obstructions I recommend that you give them a chance to go outside but PLEASE keep a eye on them.

Thanks,
MadG121

Can you explain what you mean by this statement, because it just doesn't make sense to me!

Anti-biotics are totally ineffective against viruses, so the cat may not need anti-biotics. Anti-biotics are given to treat a secondary bacterial infection often caused by a virus, but some vets won't give an anti-biotic unless they believe the cat also has a bacterial infection.

So that they can pass on their flu viruses to other cats???

If you know so much then you'll also know that vaccinations don't prevent animals (or people for that matter) from picking up these diseases and being ill from them. They merely give the immune system a boost to deal with it, so it's less severe - nothing more!

That's the bit I don't understand either - your re-phrasing doesn't explain what you meant, nor clarifies it.

OK - let's try again! If you look at my first post I quoted the bit of your post that I didn't understand. Shell has underlined it in her post and you still haven't answered it.

So to clarify, this is the bit neither of us is understanding:

" the other reason maybe it could get it is because it was the brunt of the litter meaning one of the sisters negleated the other sister in the group and made the sister become depressed, which also means the ammune system is low and won't protect as it should, "

We can't understand what you mean!
