I actually think its a real shame that the squirty poos are so off putting to most bird owners, they really dont know what they are missing out on!
I own both seed and nectar eaters and i can honestly say i spend less time cleaning up after Ruby!! There is nothing worse than little seeds in the carpet and most birds i've ever had seem to flick half of the food out of the bowl so it ends up everywhere!! Ruby's set up makes things quite easy. She has newspaper above the seed grill at the bottom of the cage so i just change that twice a day. I have a clear shower curtain (79p in ikea!) that is attached to the wall behind her cage and that are just washed down every day when i do the evening cage clean. She doesnt actually squirt out of the cage very often so most days it is not even dirty! The food takes a little longer to prepare (about as long as making a cup of coffee!lol) and is very expensive, and you have to be careful what fruit you give them because they cant digest the seeds in things like pomegranite. But i tend to blend it all anyway so she just drinks it like the nectar. But yeah, the amazing characters these birds have far outweigh the slight negative point of having squirty poos IMO. And once you've owned one, i think most people would agree
