Wizzy and Lucas

Wizbit will be having a second litter with Lucas hopefully - so I thought I'd nick (literally) Kathy's camera and get some piccies of them for the website...

Wizbit (Bohemian Black No1) - black satin berkshire






Lucas (Halcyon Surprise Sorcerer) - black hooded






No doubt I'll be using Kathy's batteries up on other rats too...shh...dont tell her...

Absolutely gorgeous rats! I am so chuffed that Wiz turned out to be a proper satin, I've never seen one in the flesh until now. Seen loads of rats labelled as them that aren't, but proper satin is so beautiful! Put me on the list for one please!

Will do Kathy - Wizzy's litter shouldnt be satin if it's recessive (or multiple genes at work), but her daughter Pearl will be hopefully trying for more satins in a couple of months.

I know the pics show a shiny rat, but it's the feel of them that is truly lovely - they do actually feel like satin

New pics of Wizzy, who is super nesting and being very grumpy with the other girls, so is coming out to go in her nursery cage. She's due from 9th onwards.

Thanks - she really is special to me - her daughter Pearl is going to be a stunner too, I've just got to choose the right buck for her to test about these here satins

It's a shame there's no-one else breeding for them - would have been handy to have some bucks to borrow

There both and look at the shine on them (I think you have been polishing them with furniture polish...lol)

Thanks - you should feel her too - she's really smooth! Lucas isn't satin (at least not that I know of!) just shiny, you can really feel the difference.

Here's a good pic showing the difference between a normal coat and a satin (although they were kitten pics - and the "normal" kitten moulted into satin too - all positively id-ed by Ann at the NFRS)....




They were from Wizbit's first litter. Hopefully her second will have some hooded girls in it for my hooded line, and no satins! Her daughter Pearl (the shinier one in those pics) will be aiming for more satins possibly if I decide to take it up. No-one else I know breeds specifically for them.
