Default Jack russell

Hi all

As some of you may know, me and my partner own a beautiful jack russel dog. We would love to stud him but have no pedigree papers but think its a shame not to pass on his good looks!!!! We were just wondering if anyone has a female they would be willing to breed?

Thanks in advance

Hayley

Do you mean pedigree as in parentage/family tree ?

Jack Russells don't have papers as such, like kennel club as they are not a KC recognised breed, so there's no such thing really as a 'pedigree' Jack Russell. A Parson Russell Terrier is a KC breed, but they're the long legged type.

Hope you find a lady for him, We have a little girl we will bre breeding in Sept hopefully.

well if thats a pic of your jack russel i would deffo say he is a cross bred lookin at that pic looks like yorkshire terrier cross

not trying to put a dampener on things but if the only reason you want to stud him is to pass on his good looks dont !

There are enough puppies and dogs already out there begging new homes so why add more puppies into the equasion ??

I have 6 dogs that i all think are gorgas an beautiful but wouldnt breed because of the too many dogs and not enough owners out there saga

There are 100's of dogs put to sleep a day because rescues and kennels just dont have the space to house them all and feed and care for them

I really do think you should think long and hard about what may happen to the puppies down the line should an owner not be able to keep the dog any longer where is it gonna end up ?

sorry for the rant but its something i feel very strongly about

I apprciate what you are saying but i would probably keep quite a few pups myself. He is not a cross breed - many people have thought this dueto his colouration etc but i know 100% both his parents were common jack russells, it s possible for a jack to be log furred - like mine and be of that colouration. He is defo not cross bred with a yorkie.

I've bred a short coated black and tan JRT in the past, many years ago now, I would still say he is from a yorkie to JRT mating due to the shape opf his face.
I also bred Yorkshire terriers in years gone by so I 'know' both breeds.

I've met this type of cross breed before and yours looks identical to every yorkie/JRT X I've seen.

Having said that he is an adorable little dog.

There may be the possibility that the bitch was mated both to the dog you were shown as the father and another that was a yorkie or yorkie x and this is the mating your little boy is from.
I bet there were pups in the litter that looked just like your average JRT????
This would be no fault of yours as you were told he is JRT but whether you are told this or not it will not make him an accepted JRT.

I'd be very surprised if anyone with a 'recognised' JRT would use him unfortunately.

I still dont understand the need to stud him ?

Your cute lil jack russell is gonna be turned into a humping machine which may change his personality along with his temprement are you prepared for that too should it happen ?

im not saying it definately will but you cant rule it out

and your still adding more puppies into a world that is slowly getting over run again

Whos to say the person you find to stud him to wants you to have any involvement in the puppies let alone keep most of the litter ?

all things you need to think about

sorry im not having a go just i dont understand why people feel the need to turn a dog into a humping machine just because they think its a handsome dog there is alot more to breeding dogs than that

I agree emma.

I have the most adorable St Bernard X who I have been asked to allow a number of 'Mastiff' owners to use.
He was neutered yesterday having never 'had the joys of female companionship'.........
