Unhappy attacked rat

hi all got home from work to see that rex had been attacked by one of his cage mates (probably dumbo) he looks alot better now weve washed him he does hav an absess on his back we will try to get into the vets for rex tomorrow

but should we think about getting dumbo castrated as hes getting too big for his boots in the cage

I would certainly get him castrated. i do think male rats go through a kevin stage though but they get over it quicker without their nuts

Are you sure it's Dumbo? The thing i'd be worried about is if you get him castrated.re-introduce him and it still happens because it's the wrong rattie. If he's being aggressive anyways then they do recommend castration to calm them down.

its defenatly dumbo weve put him in out quarrantine cage and nothing has happened since and its normally constant

Hi, my wife & I are extremely experienced rat keepers & my advice to anyone keeping males other than for breeding is get the done ASAP.

there usually all fine and have lived together in their cage for 3 years (not together but introducing when some pass away) and dumbos been the only bad one but when we put him in the quaranteen cage for a day on his own he now seems to be ok
