Ethics, trade and conservation

As part of one of my assignments i am required to discuss reasons for and against keeping exotic species, the legislation that is currently in place regarding keeping exotics and whether they are effective or not, and lastly justify the commercial and ethical considerations in the keeping and breeding of exotic species.

I own an exotic species, but i am hoping i could ask some of you about yours opinions of the above topics (specifically about exotic hobby keeping) so i can use them (with your permission) to show different views of other people.

I think it needs to be mentioned that a good majority of exotic pets(in terms of reptiles) are captive bred in europe and america and not taken fron wild stock

Also worth finding the export quotas for a few countries to show the difference in numbers between live animals for the pet trade and skins for the clothing trade.
