yup a goldfinch these have to be rung to be kept it captivity

they only have to be rung when they are sold they can be given away of course that only applies if it is a captive bred bird, the ring needs to be from the ioa or bbc, it needs to be a close ring to, if its wild its illegal

But it is not illigal if the bird is injured wildlife and was taken in either due to be released after healing or can be kept captive if it cannot be rleased if for example it lost a wing or its vision etc....

Its a Goldfinch hen i'd say by the looks, i used to breed them, and agree with cooltom, they only have to be rung if you are selling them or showing them.

more importantly is that you can prove the bird is captive bred!
