i know people with them, but i am sworn to silence on who, and where. i was lucky enough to be trusted to see them.. and wow.. they are stunning i have to say..

one thing i will say though..

do NOT part with ANY money unless you actually SEE the bird in the flesh, with your own eyes.. not a picture either!

the people i know with them, traveled to the EU to collect theirs in person, and even then, were heavily vetted by the breeder first (and no, i do not have the breeders contact details either..) i think they had to stay with her for a week whilst she decided if they were worthy or not in fact.

i do know of several people last year who were scammed tho, in fact one of our clients was scammed out of 7,500, by a guy in scotland.. not even a nigerian scammer.. this one had a uk phone, a uk address (fake of course) and a UK accent.. he spoke perfect english as you or i would.. and even after our client got the police involved, there was nothing that could be done. he never got a penny back.

as far as i know, there just are not any "real" hyacinths available on the market through classified ads..

from my own obs.. i would say they are bigger than the standard blue and gold type of macaw.. and you need a set up like fort knox if you are going to keep them.. the ones i saw were behind tall brick walls, totally hidden from passing eyes, had a big outdoor flight area.. and were stunning animals to watch.

good luck.. but the main thing to remember is do NOT hand over ANY money unless the seller and the bird are there in person in front of you!

I would NEVER do that with any pet anyway!

I like to know what im getting and usually like to go and pick up the animal myself!!!

I'm not allowed one anytime soon (till i have my own house basically)

But would really like to breed them when i am older!

I love them so much, they are absolutely brilliant! I would love to meet one, one day!

I can understand why people hide them away!

Thanks for that though N

Your very lucky to have seen one!!! jealous much?!?! Yes lol

Hyacinth Macaws are the largest parrot in the world, with the strongest beak in the bird world! They are not to be taken on lightly! You must also have a lottery win to be able to purchase one!
