Owning a Dog : Age

Ok. So i am basically 16 and live with mum n her b/f. We have a dog (Border Collie Black and white) and we are getting another (red and white) fine and dandy

I was woundering if there is a legal age to own a dog...i am guessing there is...I was woundering if I could own a dog (small dog, terrier species (manchester terrier i am thinking))

Having owned a dog for 9years or so i am aware of everything it involves. I doubt my mum would let me yet, but just woundering.

I basically look after my dog (daisy...perfect dog!!) feed, water, clean, let out etc...

Legally you have to be over 16 to purchase an animal from a store, and if you can buy an animal without parents present i presume that would make you the owner... but if you had to go to court to claim a dog was yours if you were living with your parents I think it would be pretty tough!

I've "owned" animals from 8, in the sense that my mother bought them, I paid for them and looked after them, from cats, to dogs, to reptiles.. but ultimately, legally, she was at the end of the day responsible for them, until the day I moved out and they came with me.

i think in a sence you are right but when you hit 18 you are responsble for the care even if you are still at home if you own the animal
