Default Red Bellied Macaw?

Does anybody have one? I've enquired about one for sale but don't know very much about them. I've got a Blue and Gold Macaw and African Greys already though - and an empty cage!

Yeah I've read that, I've left a thread on his parrot forum as it happens.

It was really only a tentative enquiry, I have an empty cage and I'm just looking around to see what comes up, I'm not in any rush, but the red bellied sounded interesting and they look nice too.

We emailed about a caique on freecycle the other day but have had no response.

Ooh that would be interesting but I've had some wine - it's Friday and my kids are away. I'm not far from Wisbech though, about 15 miles away, although Guyhirn is a bit further from here.

Do they happen often? As I said, not in any great rush but I hate having empty cages!

I didn't realise the RSPCA did that, I'd rather rehome a bird to be honest. I have one old boy I rehomed when he started plucking with his owners at work and a little girl who is quite unhappy, but is starting to really settle down now.

Go to Newark on Sunday & I might buy you a coffee

The advert you have seen looks like a scam to me....Gumtree is full of them & it even made the TV the other night

I used to have 2 pairs red bellied macaws - very shy nervous species that need mainly palm nuts as their staple food source. IN the wild they are known to breed in trios but as yet (last time I researched them) it was not known if it was 1 male/2 females or 2males/1 female....me thinks 2 females more likely though

They are held bi-weekly so the next one is in 2 weeks time. I'm back now and got some good new nest boxes, 2 female guinea pigs, one with 3 young babies, for £2 each. And a lovely pair of lovebirds with a large cage for £20.

Sadly the RSPCA centres around here have only little birds and want more than they would cost to buy, as a rehoming fee. They tend to place the parrots with the natinal parrot rescue centre in Boston or the inspectors immediately home them among themselves and staff.
