Default domino is home from his operation

Well first of all thanks for all your suport guys followin doms problems, our first month together has been a pretty rough one but lets hope this is the end of it.

After 10 prolapses over 4 days we took Dom to the vet where he put a ring stitch in. The ring stitch was still big enough to put your finger up so it looked hopeful Anyway i checked him bum religiously 1st day he had the runs then the next day he didnt eat or poo. At night i checked his bum and his anus was bulging out. It looks as if he has had a pull at the purse string n pulled it a bit tight so we cut it out. It then poured out of him bless, and he began eating I rung the vet yesterday morning to let him know and the vet told me to bring him in first thing this mornin for dom to have surgery to stitch a small part of his intestine into his stomach wall to try and prevent prolapsing again.

Anyway i rung the vet at midday today and he had just finished. The vet found that he had had an " intususseption" and the way he described it was like when you take a glove off and the finger goes inside itself This had happened to Doms large intestine. Between a foot and 15 inches was inside itself and all coiled up. The vet said what was rare about Dom is it hadnt just happened at the bottom end it had happened at the top too. So he untangled it all, straightened it out and then stitched a small part of it into his stomach. All the intestine was still healthy. Dom now has a small wound in his stomach with about 5 stitches in it. The vet said that surgery was 100% neccessary and if left untreated it could have been fatal He cannot guarentee re occurance but so long as everything is goin in and comin out we shouldnt worry. He also cannot be certain whether the intususseption was the cause or the effect of the prolapse or vice versa but its likely the prolapse was the cause, as he was tryna straighten himself out inside n with straining it was causing the prolapse.

Domino has been very active on the way home sitting on the passenger seat and he is now curled up back in his cage, occasionally having a mooch about Im sure he will welcome his dinner of chicken and veg. We just need to keep an eye on him with his stitches but the vet has been very neat and so thinks he shouldnt bother with them too much.

ive been a nervous wreck most of the day at work but am startin to calm down now hes back home with us. The vet says he doesnt see any reason why he cant still go and visit Indie, Rave and Punk tomorrow at Kats as planned

Well I'm glad he had his op succesfully. I once had a little runty rescue pup with a prolapse and he too had an intussusception . His op was 100% successful so it bodes well for Domino hopefully.
