The single best bit of advice I can give you is to buy yourself a book called 'Starting with chickens' by Katie Thear.
If I ever wrote a book about chickens this is the book I'd write.
I keep, breed, show and eat chcikens and have done for around 25 years.
Forgot to mention that I also run an animal advice line so feel free to ask anything.

hi foxy

sorry forgot about this thread i shall pm u her no.tomora, she dosnt have em free range more like barn i think u call it as she has a few big sheds with very large runs attached, they have lots n lots of room, she used to take her cockeral to work with now n then he is called perry n was a runt so was just like a baby, but he has turned into a big boy now n is in with some females n likes to run n karate kick my mum when she goes into feed them lol.

she doesnt use him to breed as he is to small, n all hers are pets she bred enough so she could keep them all, she wont eat chicken as she says it would be like her eating her dogs now n has basically turned vegi, with just the odd bacon butti now n then, lol but if she had pigs she couldnt eat bacon either lol.

the eggs even tho small as they are bantoms are very very tasti n very bright, when u keep ur own chickens n then taste a cheep battery farm egg u can really tell the difference as they chickens are happier n better fed.
