Default rottweiler colouration

im really hoping somene here can help as myself and my friend are completely gobsmacked lol

her rottweiler bitch gave birth this afternoon to 11 gorgeous and seemingly healthy puppies 7 beautiful girls and 4 handsome boys. what has completely shocked her (and now me lol) is she had 5 red/tan pups, we are assuming that this is obviously some kind of "throw back" or genetic flaw(sp) but we cant find any information on the internet or anywhere else. pups are full rottweiler and will be kc registered, obviously if the kc allows her to register the red/tan ones, there generation can be traced back 7 or 8 times and from what she has found out so far nothing else like this has happened.

if anyone has any information or has ever heard of or expereinced something similar please leave a message and let us know. thanks

IF both parents are kc then regardless of colour she will be able to kc register the pups. After all Blue and white GSD's can still be kc reg, same with white boxers.
But be nice to see pictures of red and tan rotties lol

both mum and dad are kc registered, both mum and dad are owned by my friend and she bred the mum herself and did until recently own the mums mum, the father comes from salonga breeding.

Blimey love the way the American's are so purist about a slightly different naturally occuring colour morph as you reptile folk would call it.

Colour
Whole or smut, (i.e. whole colour with black mask or muzzle). Only whole colours (which should be brilliant and pure of their sort) viz., brindles, reds with their various shades, fawns, fallows etc., white and pied (i.e. combination of white with any of the foregoing colours). Dudley, black and black with tan highly undesirable

It is a recessive genetic trait so both parent's are carriers but unlike the Blue gene I'm not aware of any health problems related to the red gene. For many breeders its an undesirable trait but as you can see there are more colour variations out there than folk realise. Most breeders sell with a neutering clause and follow that up with vets letter or home visit to ensure its taken place, you can just see it now can't you Rare coloured Rotties for sale thousands £ each!

thanks for the links (how come i couldnt find them).

and just for schips benefit ive spoken to my friend and the pups will all be priced at 300 regardless of colour lol with endorsments on all pups as she has found out that even the litter mates should probably not be bred from. mum and dad are both going to be booked in to be done.

she also wants the make sure the pups are not bred from, is there a way to garuntee this wont happen, i know she can have a contract drawn up but she is worried this still wont stop people breeding

The simplest thing is for her to have the pups neutered/spayed HERSELF before they're sold... but then she won't be selling puppies, she'll be selling dogs.

this is something we have been discussing, is it 7 months old before you can have them done? I have said i can take half and she keep half until they are old enough to be done. i really dont think the money is the issue BUT obviously older rotties are harder to find homes for than pups
