Default Agressive Staffy

My friend has three staffies, ones 12 and is the mother of a dog and a bitch that she has kept, they are both almost 10. Recently over the last 6 months, the dog has begun to attack both his mother and sister for no reason and has to be separated. He cries at every moment that my friend is away from him and if he sees any other animal he basically goes mental yet will lie calmly by the side of anyone. He has always been a friendly dog and she has tried muzzling him but he always gets it off she is thinking about neutering him in the hope he may calm down but does anyone have any idea what could cause this, no circumstances have changed etc?

A week ago he dived from an open window and attacked a mans greyhound and also injured his mother quite badly, his mother has recovered and the greyhound was quite badly injured but is currently recovering

Any ideas why he is behaving like this?

imo best bet is to have a vet check im out, my uncle had an ebt years ago and suddenly she would attack grandma's chihuahua's for no reason and often went for people, he took her to the vets and she had a growth on her brain which had apparently been there since she was born but as it had got bigger started affecting her in different ways as it started to put pressure on different parts of the brain.

Either that or he has suffered a recent traumatic event.

Dogs that have lived together for a number of years just dont turn on each other overnight.

As Rach has said something is definatly wrong, I would get him to the vets asap.

I would agree with the others it sounds to me like an under lying issue rather than just turning aggressive.
Definately get him to the vets and get them to check him out!!

Other than that if he is ok with people it sounds to me that something has happened to make him think his owner was at risk of another animal attacking and now he feels he has to protect him/her more!

I agree with vet trip as above. Brain tumour is a definate maybe with this type of history. And neutering won't help at all if he is 10 - his behaviour is now learnt, not just hormonal.
