Default Hamster question

I have just got a Syrian hamster. She is 8 weeks old and a silvery grey colour, she is gorgeous!!!
is there any way of getting them to be a bit more active in the early evenings, she only got up 1/2 an hour ago!!!

you want to give her chance to settle in and they rest and active cycle more as youngsters see what she like as a young adult but if you gently wake her at a certain time she will adapt to a routine...hth and also...pics when shes settled? syrians are great

She will change as she gets older, they tend to sleep more as babies. Try keeping her somewhere that she will here the noise it may help.

I've never had a hamster before but I saw her and just couldn't resist!!! Another question ....... when should I start to try and handle her? I sat my hand in her house tonight and she came over to investigate and bit me .......... twice!!! Is it too soon? I thought that I should try a wee bit every night but I just don't know!!!

Thanks for any advice.

Yes I would leave her a few days to settle in and then start trying to handle her.

I bought two hamsters back in august. The shop very rarely handled them and it showed the one hamilton in my photo hehe got used to being handled but my female i have only now just been able to start taking her out without being bitten and i found what worked the best for getting her used to me was some hamster choc buttons you can buy from the supermarket they are only like 50p but she goes mad for them and it built up her trust try her on them, if she dont like them its only 50p lol
