Default macaws

i was wondering where is a good place to purchase hand reared macaws? (scarlet prefered, but yellow/blue and hyacinth also considered)

ive been interested in macaws for a long time now but never really found anyone who breeds them as im wanting to do more research on them and to do that im wanting to contact breeders and find out what works for them before i decide to do anything.

if anyone keeps macaws could you give me some advice please!

cheers

ian

Maybe see if you can find a forum dedicated to bird keeping? They're sure to be able to help!

Scarlets usualy go for £1200+
Blue & Golds usualy go for £900+
Hyacinths usualy go for £8,000+

These are for hand reared youngsters, these are just guide prices, they can be a little cheaper or dearer ... if you look about you can pick up 2 year old H/R B&G's with huge cage, food, toys etc for £500.

I am registered to both:

Send me a pm etc if you need any other help etc as i will have a search etc for you

cool, cheers for the links people, gives me a good basis to start research!

been quite tempted by the green winged macaws, and they are similar prices i have been able to find! cant just yet justify the cost for the hyacinth macaw so will prob be one of the more cheaper breeds.

would you recommend staying with a uk breeder or take the chance of importing?

if i have any questions ill drop you a pm anthony, cheers!

I dont see the need for the risk with importing, there are a good selection of breeders available in the UK already, chances are you'll either be able to see the parents, or see the environment in which they were reared, or both.

Can you get Hyacinths here now?

About 4 years ago when we were looking we would have had to import. Only reason we didnt as the breeder only had F1 but for the permit F2 were needed.
