Default PAH now doing adoption.

so how does that work then?

i'm guessing it's a new thing. i went in to stockport PAH recently and they'd re-done it all and now have an adoption centre. it's mainly rabbits but they all say they need to be spayed. that kinda annoyed me as most proper rescues spay their animals before they go to new homes.

so does anyone know what the proceedure is?

You give a donation and take the animal... Many times it's animals from that particular p@h that have gotten "too old" to be sold.

and that's it? so no different from buying a baby rabbit then.

well that all seems pretty pointless.

Yup... I think there isn't a set price for donation, though. They say it goes to rescue, but I seriously doubt that.

i adopted a rabbit from my local sspca centre, and i had to spay her myself, and have her mixi jag done. she was adopted as a friend for my neutered male who had lost his last wee pal through mixi. i also paid a small donation. not the same as buying one froma shop, as this way you are giving an unwanted animal a home. she had been found in woods.

There were two boy rats in there recently that I was frantic over, really skinny, square tails, porphyrin around the eyes etc. So the other half rang them up to ask about them..he asked why they were there if they had been someones pet 'oh no they were to old to sell so the other store transfered them to us to go in the rehoming bit'...they were only tiny, but apparently they weren't as desirable as they weren't tiny enough.

yep - the adoption centre does have a few animals that are too big/old to sell in the shop BUT its also for people who can't keep their animal any more for various reasons, they hand it in and P@H put it in the adoption centre which I think IS a good idea and also for abandoned animals.

You pay a donation and sign an agreement to say you will have the animal neutered and look after it properly and return it to P@H if there are any problems, not sell the animal on.

I have 2 rabbits from there - 1 was handed in as part of an unplanned litter and the other was abandoned on someones drive in a cardboard box as a baby and was hand reared.
