Nope wasn't good at all - I have had this little girl for a little over a week (2 weeks after I got my other daughter a lil boy who is happy and healthy) - she wasn't acting normally - she wasn't eating drinking and her movements were sooooo slowwwww. I phoned Pets At Home and asked if there was reports of any other problems from the Hamsters that she came in with and they said no and to take her there for their vet to look at and treat her if necessary. They gave her the once over and said she was fine and that I was over-reacting, so I took her home and decided to give her some settling in time after the journey etc etc. Last time I saw her was Tuesday evening and was getting a little suspect, so searched around for her and she looked awful like she was completely blind in one eye (it had turned bright pink and looked so sore) and she had an icky bottom and couldn't move (was curled up into a ball) - my daughter said the smell coming from the cage was awful, but I couldn't smell it because I have been poorly and all stuffed up I came on last night after I discovered her like this to see if there was any way I could make her more comfortable as I knew she wouldn't make it through the night, but I didn't need to The Hamsters were kept no where near one another as she was downstairs, and the male is upstairs in my daughters room.

I hope gerbils can't get wet tail because we have been using the same little container to carry them in as the hamster

no gerbils cant but youve got other syrians...were they in the same room? if so watch em carefully and first signs of a runny bum get them to the vets hun...i got an infected hamster from PAH and it wiped out NINE of my hamsters and if id not worked carefully and split them into groups i would of lost the lot...two that got it survived cos they were caught early so keep an eye and if they do get it get PAH to bloody well pay i know i did they forked out for all my hams to go to vet!!!! that said if her wet tail was stress related theres every chance its not contagious...be vigilant but dont worry , if your other ham was to get it , caught early it will stand a chance
there would be less wet tail if PAH actually quarantined their animals long enough...i know for a fact they only do it for two days in the one near me and as its a chain im guessing thats nationwide whereas wet tail takes a week to show up ...still i spose its better than other pet shops i know that shove em straight up for sale out of the boxes they arrived in

anyway rant over any questions or advice, drop me a PM like i said ive been there with wet tail myself

This is happening with P@H hamstes all over the country.
They have been told about it numerous times.
Apparently, on madabouthamsters forum, they are all contacting on eparticular person to do with the company.
There's a huge thread here Hamster Forum About them.

You wil have to join to read it though.

When you brought the hamster, did it have symptoms of wet tail? If not whilst I hate P@H with all my will I have to say its not fair to blame them, is it? As wet tail becomes visible in times of stress ie. being moved to a new home. But still, pets at home is a tip most of the time and should be sued.

I just phoned PAH and told them what happened, luckily the manager remebered me and said 'aawwwww that's so sad! I don't know how that happened because she looked fine to me!' I told her that it takes 7 days to show and that I knew there was something wrong, which is why I brought her in to be looked at. She was like 'If you come in later today we can get a replacement!'????? I said WHAT?? Are you serious?? And she was like, 'well you're obviously not ready for a replacement just yet, but whenever you are, come see me'!!! I was like OMG
