Default Switching Your Dog To Raw-Foods

Just wondering if over there any of you have switched your dog to raw food?

We have a shop about 45 minuites from where we are that sells bricks of raw foods specially made for dogs. It simulates there natrual diet. We recently switched our dog to it and WOW! What a difference, He has energy and its ready to go whenever and always is on the go. We had to switch him because he had stones in his kidneys and he had a $1700 dollar surgey to get them out and we have to feed him high moisture foods to prevend the stones.

It also helps prevent cancer becuase it doesnt inclued all the grains/perservtives of kibble.

Id would say if you can find a place that sells raw for dogs, look into it...

IMO This is a very interesting thread. I wanted to feed my Golden Retreiver on a RAW diet years ago around the same time that I began fostering rotti's and enquired about changing their diets on a forum, only to be told that it wasn't a good idea to feed rotti's a RAW diet. This then put that thought on hold as I couldn't very well feed my goldie what the rotti's couldn't have. Now that I am no longer fostering, I have been playing with the idea of doing this again. I heard that you have to feed them something other than just raw meat (if I remember correctly it had to contain a certain percentage of organs??), is this true?? My cats get enough raw meat as I often step in the remains of their meal as I am rushing out the door

hehe i know that feeling!
RAW diet compleltly for my cats has worked a treat!
ginger is loosing weight, zingi isnt getting ill.
and its making them have beautiful soft shiney coats.
Also i have noticed that the kittens teeth (who have been fed just RAW) are beautoiful and white, yet my other cat who i have had since 8 weeks, had teeth problems very early on.
Ginger has only 2 teeth, and i put that down to ''cat food''

Aaawwww My eldest kitty is almost 10 and he has terrible teeth, but the others seem to have maintained quite nice healthy teeth (might have something to do with the move to the countryside and having free range access to all those juicy wabbits and voles and rats and micies and pheasants and quail etc etc) hehe

I have read about the benefits this diet can have for dogs and cats alike, but where can you obtain enough meaty morsels to keep them happy?? I know that all my local butchers donate most of what I guess we would feed ours on, to the local rescues, so would I have to buy tonnes and tonnes of prime beef?? lol

i have BARF diet, frozen and pre packed (beter for us as we have a tiny freezer) they then have the odd bit of organ (from butcher.farmer) the diet also contains bones and organs too. They will then (when the kittens are outside so thus bigger) they will get a chick each each week. They also get eggs.

Brilliant thank you! I won't go into this until I have all the facts and know what I am doing, but I will in the meantime, see if I can strike up a deal with one of the butchers, or see where my local abattoir is.

Thank You
