cpq are a nightmare............if you look at them they jump in the air and break their necks on the roof, they fall in the water bowl and drown.....................

they just like to think of new and exciting ways to top themselves!!!!

I used to have two european quail. I fed them on eggfood as I found it really difficult to get proper quail food. They laid on average an egg a day in summer, which I fed humans - never mind the reptiles! I kept them in the shed as they were quite jumpy and this helped. I got a good book on quail keeping off ebay - can't remember the author.

Mine were both girls - no cock but still laid and when one died the other seemed happy on her own. They both lived to be old for quails (can't remember how old but I did check in the book!) I also used the same grit I use for my budgies/parrots. They lived in a converted rabbit hutch, they need a bit of height as they can jump and bash their heads on the roof, but are rubbish at flying. I got them from our local childrens farm park and modelled my house on what they had there.
