Default Help needed asap with baby mice!

Hi guys,

I have 2 female mice in together but I now have a load of babies as well! Great stuff except I was told to take the female that wasn't the mum out otherwise she would eat the babies but I have no idea which is the mum!!

How important is it that I separate them? Ive been told to try putting some scrambled egg in there to up their protein so they dont feel as much need to go around munching babies but Im not too sure what to do.

Thanks in advance!

If they aren't fighting and neither are hurting the kits then dont worry. You may find both of them will lactate as mice tend to look after each others babies.

oh thank god for that! I was so scared they would all get eaten I checked them both for nipples and they're both the same so god knows! I lifted up the bedding on top of the babies and im worried Ive got my scent on them now although I didn't touch any of them.

I'll leave them all in together and just pray the babies make it, they're so cute!

Dont worry hun, some mouse breeders handle babies from 1 day old to make them as tame as possible so as long as the mums are used to humans dont worry too much
Good luck

Yep. Though if they were from the same cage when you got them its possible that they both had babies which would explain why they both seem to look the same.

Also held all my litters from day 1 because the mother had been fine with me doing so, i think they like there little breaks anyway.
