Thumbs up A Parrot that can pick a lock

ok guys.. now im frustrated. my 2yr old parrot can not only open his door, but can chew thru the lock thats on it.... iwe dont have a proble with ihm being out... but when ppl are round we want him in incase h bites.. and trust me.. he bits... so any help at all will be appreciated

Put a big metal padlock on the door!! how can it chew through the lock unless its made out of string or a bit of rope or something but surely its not cos that would be silly!!

it is metal... and i have no idea how it chews through it but it definately does...

join the club.

My grey can undo his cage either at the food bowls or the door - well that was until I bought a montana cage with new style doors locks & I just screwed the food bowl doors down.

Indy macaw can also let herself out, but with her door latch I can hook a metal loop through it that stops it opening.

Have you tried a metal padlock & chain?

Maybe post a photo of the door that gets opened so we can see if there is a solution available.

What type of parrot is he?

he is an amazon, and yh, will take a pic later of the door with a new lock on... thanks... and no way! i love mackaws.. whats his/her name

awww... lol... one of my friends macaws got attacked by his dog, and one of the claws had to come off... so wen he was back in cage i was lookin at the claw.... and wow did he go for me. not funny considerin it was a fully grown... luckily i dodged out the way but he hasnt been the same since

Haha, Sounds like a clever parrot

I swear down deep in there hearts they mean to annoy there owner

Maybe get one of those huge BNQ steal padlock things.. surly he carnt chew through them.

haha i know wot u mean by they tr to annoy us... i got him shoutin german phrases... oh and i tought him how to climb down the leg of his cage.. so when he does get out... he has control over the house.... oh yeah... and he can change the channel... not funny when youre recording something
