Default Springer Spaniels

Well Ive got a little girly springer spaniel, she is just turned 1, Have had her since December, when i first got her it was asthough she had been beaten, she woul cowar to the floor if anyone went near her, and alot of time she would wee, she hated people puttin leads on her, again would cowar and got to floor nd wee. She absoloutly loves people but was just really nervous, hated cars and traffic(astouch she had never seen them before) or a bath for that matter, covered in mud and wee

Thankfully she is the type of dog that learns fast, after meeting many people in my family, aswell as other dogs, she now is perfect, she wants to meet everyone in the street and alot of time people stop and stroke her coz she is soo pretty, which has built an emense bout of confidence, she is always wagging her tail, always wants to play and have cuddles(very much a lap dog, she is sat asleep on my knee now) She has got over all her fears and is now a happy go lucky doggy, i managed to get in touch with her breeders also, turns out she was the runt of the litter.

My parents have a 5 month old springer spaniel bitch, she is the devil half the time she is lil angel, other half she just attacks( she only playing and she teething at the moment)

will add some pics of my lil girlly now, nd my parents springer.

Holly-Berry(the lil devil) and my lil girl Ruu-Ruu

WOOHOO! Another Springer fan!
Ours is about 3 years old now and we will have had him for 2 years come July. We had a few problems when we first got him, the major one was he had never been on a lead so he was very lead shy. We went back to basic puppy lead training methods and now he is fine. He is wonderful with other dogs and adores my son who is Autistic.
Like yours, ours was very nervous when he first got him, but we spent last summer taking him to all the Country Fairs in and around Lincolnshire where he met and was admired by alot of working dog people and met loads of friendly well behaved dogs. This really seemed to give his confidence a boost and we had some great days out. Got the same planned for this summer!
I would never have had a Springer by choice, ours sort of came to us accidently! But I must say I am now totally addicted! Even thinking of getting anothor one (If I can sneak one in without Hubby noticing!)

nahhh. That's just the normal working springer type. Glad she is getting better. I wonder why there are so many working type springers about and not the show type which I think is prettier.

Show type

working type. Flatter head, smaller eyes, shorter ears.

Possibly because they are such a popular working dog there are more working litters breed. However saying that a working bred Springer in the wrong hand can be a nightmare (I've met a few).
If you want to spend hours walking, no matter what the weather, how ill you feel, or what ever else you have to do then a working Springer is great. Excellent for helping with weight loss and would highly reccommend to anyone on a diet. If you want something a bit more laid back then go for something from show stock.
I have a friend with 2 show bred Springers and my boy runs them ragged. They are lovely looking dogs, but as the old saying goes, and which was often quoted to me by an old friend who had kept working gundogs, Lurchers and terriers all his life, "handsome is as handsome does".

We have a cracking Working Spinger Spaniel 'Ruby'. She is a fantastic dog, great sniffer and wonderful with children. She was kept on her own in a flat during the day and her owner wanted rid as she was howling (well yes she would howl all day).

She's been great here tho, no problems at all. but then she has doggy friends now and not alone all day as I'm at home.

I'll get some pics of her in a bit.

I have to say out of those two dogs I much prefer the look of the second one.
