Default My dog's been to the vets today :-(

We went to the vets because he had really bad teeth from his racing days

(he's a retired greyhound)

But the vet wouldn't clean them, he didn't want to put him under the anaesthetic unless it was an emergency, as greyhounds are very sensitive to anaesthetic and he didn't want to take the risk.

Been to another vets because they've got so bad, and he's had to have them all taken out.

My beautiful boy only has two teeth now (bottom fangs), and a mouth full of stitches!

He's going to have to be on soft food until he can learn how to eat again.

Poor guy, I haven't seen him yet as he's at my dads house, but according to him he's walking round with his tongue hanging out because he has nothing to hold it in! Poor thing, he's going to look more idiotic than usual

Here's him before...

I'll get after pics asap

And to kick him while he's down...

My dog he went to the vets
Because of his horrible breath
They pulled all the teeth
That were giving him grief
Poor bastard’s only two left!

Oh bless him! I'm sure he'll soon be eating again, or sucking his food, he's a handsome boy!

Aw! He's beautiful!!
I have a real soft spot for hounds!

I'm sure he'll be eating normal food in no time. It's always been my understanding that dogs don't really chew their food anyway, they just gulp it down.

My 9 year old cat had to have all her teeth out and was eating hard dried cat food within a week - and cats do chew their food more than dogs . We were feeding her soft food and she just kept going over and nicking the other cat's dried food!

Lady had most of her teeth out years ago now, they cope suprisingly well (she is a whippet x). Then again she's always rushed her food since we got her (rescue dog and we've tried all the tricks in the book and she still rushes) chewing is a foreign concept to Lady...to the point were if we gave her a chew or a dentastick we would always have to hold it until the last possible moment otherwise she would swallow them whole :O

Gorgeous dog. As said before Im sure he will be eating normally very shortly. I wish someone would tell my Rottie dogs dont chew as he chews every single piece of kibble so it takes him ages to finish his food(even my Cavaliers gulp their food)
The only problem Ive had with with anesthetics and sight hounds is they take a lot longer to wake up from it. All 3 of mine have been asleep for hours afterwards which delays them coming home from the vets

Absolutely true Shell. It seems to affect their nervous system worse than other breeds and they take ages to come around.

When my Afghan bitch was spayed and I went to collect her I could hear her moaning/howling from the waiting room. I took her home and put her on the settee in the living room. Hours later I went upstairs to the toilet and she must have decided to follow me. I came downstairs and found her less than halfway up the stairs with her head through the banister rails !! She just didn't seem to know where she was.

All the dental problems could have been avoided with a natural diet, complete food is bad for carnivores.
