Default Home made or shop bought, pics of your chicken set-ups please :)

In the process of getting some bantams, wondering wether to get a egloo or builing one (well getting some one too)

Has anyone built one or had one built if so have you any pictures please xxx

I dont keep chickens at home but at the sanctuary we have lots of free range ones that sleep in wooden cabins. Egloos are horrid things, I would go for a wooden cabin everytime.
Lots of chicken keepers on here who will give you more advice

how big are your banties going to be? my tiny ones are in wooden rabbit hutches with runs on the front!

Thanks shell. what wood shall i use, wont it smell and rot after a while, surely the plastic egloos are easier to clean? x

egloos are CRAP horrid things wouldn't use them at all. for my larger breeds I have them in a shed (6ft x 8ft) with a 12ft x 8ft pen on the front, my banties are in 6ft x 4ft x 3ft wooden pen. as long as you keep things clean they dont smell

Why are they crap? ive seen them in use and know people with them and they have been great??

cold in the winter and damp with condensation in the summer.

i think wood is a lot nicer for the birds.

what type are you getting?

Im not sure yet were going to have a look over the weekend, i want small ones i know that
I just wanted some pics for inspiration but have seen something wooden fully built and free delivery for £90 big enough for 6 birds so will prob go for that.

sounds like a good price, has it got a run on it?

we cant let chooks loose here, `cause the buzzards/sparrowhawks/dogs/mink/foxes etc will eat `em!

we apparantly get foxes and bagers as r back garden backs onto woods.
Yes its got a run too. x
