Default getting a whippet pup this weekend!

Saw an ad for whippet pups near me and the pic of them just won me over! Ive always liked whippets and they were on my short list of a dog to get.

I went to see them Sunday evening and they are sooo cute! I was hoping to get a blue or brindle, but they werent as outgoing and friendly as the black ones so Ive got a little black female reserved Picking her up this weekend

Been out shopping for her today and got lots of toys, food, bowls, collars and a lead. Having a crate off my partners Dad to crate train her.

Funnily enough the little girl I chose is the one in the pic on the advert, the pic is below. There were 9 other pups but she just stood out, I was there for half an hour cuddling them lol.

Trying to think of a name for her so I can get an ID tag for her collar too. Think Im going to have to wait 'til she is home though!
Look at her little face (the black one)

Oh my word, those eyes are gorgeous. I absolutely love whippets and I'm really glad you went for the pup whose personality suited you best, not the one you thought was the prettiest. I bet you're just dying of excitement waiting for her! You wait, every time you walk past a pet shop now it'll be, 'oh she'd like that', or 'ooo, I'll just get her one of those' and before you know it, the whole house will have gone puppy! Lol, not that I'm knocking it, our dog dominates the whole house cos she's massive but I wouldn't have it any other way! Congrats and good luck with her, I never name an animal 'til I've had it at least a week as you have to be certain their name will suit so I totally see why you're waiting.

I did like all of them in the pic, although she stood out in the pic too 'cos she is at the front. I didnt know it was her in the advert pic 'til I got home and checked, I thought it was 'cos I recognised the chest markings when I was cuddling her lol.

She really is the cutest thing ever, I dont know how Im going to cope 'til the weekend lol.

I was stood in the shop today thinking, 'ooo she would like that, oo and that, oh and that one' It was hard leaving without 1 of everything!!

Love Whippets, she looks adorable (but they all are at that age, i could take them all home, well the little Blue Brindle next to her anyway). You won't regret getting her & yes this week will feel like a lifetime. Don't forget to get a coat for her, now the weather is getting colder Greyhounds & Whippets feel the cold as their skin isn't as thick as "normal" breeds (they have less fat in it, so less insulation) . Don't forget to post up loads of pics of her!!!

just watch it round your ferrets and cats as they like to chase and shake the hell out of small furry things.
they are a good indoor dog though small and hardly any doggy smell with the fine coat.

Not all do. My whippet adores cats (she snuggles up to me mums and tries to get in her bed). And with our ducks / geese and parrots she tries to mother them.
Unless i just have a stupidly soft dog who loves anything to baby!

I used to have a lurchers and whippets. They have a bad rep for chasing cats like all sight hounds, ours were always fine with our own cats and even rabbits and used to cuddle with them, but let them anywhere near a strange cat or a wild rabbit and they would follow their instincts, i suppose if they are raised with the cats they see them as part of the pack and anything else is a possible threat.
