awww hes lovely! <3
apparently a great way to keep the feathers in good condition is too coat them in pig oil, its what they put on show pigs. but i know a lot of people that show clydesdales use it as its fantastic to keep mud fever away and the feathers silky soft

my friends cob is really bad for sweet itch, he rubs his face and bum raw until it bleeds and shes got him covered in a green sweet itch sheet, which is finer than normal fly sheets. and she keeps his boy bits smothered in vasaline as the flies stick to it and cant bite.

i bet you cant wait to get riding! im almost 8months pregnant and havent riden my tbxarab in months and its killing me with all the lovely dry crisp mornings we been getting lately!

one tip to keep flies and biting insects away is to boil up some elder flowers and store the liquer in a bottle and spray it on. Or alternatively, get some lavender essential oil and put a goodly drop on your hand, rub palms together to spread it and then wipe hands on the coat. This is what I do with my goats.
Hot tip though, wash hands before milking unless you want lavender flavoured milk
