Thanks Shell. I think I answered before the reply with previcox in it.
I have to take Dibs my old shih tzu to see Dave tomorrow as I think she is arthritic. Something isn't quite right at all.Might mention previcox. Poor old gal.

well it seems to be helping him, although still stiff getting up it doesnt seem to be as much of a struggle for him, he is also not turning on me when his hips are being touched, so i would say although still in pain its more managable pain for him, hopefully it will get easier for him the longer he is on them

well little update...we have had a couple bad days ...he has been very restless in the evenings doesnt seem to be able to lay still to long due to pain i presume....his wrists and ankles have been very puffy and he is holding the worst hip/leg at an odd angel to be able to walk, he is also taking tiny steps now and is struggling with the 3 steps up into my garden ......my vet is coming out to do a home visit on wednesday, i could get one before but this one is a personal friend that has known jazz all his life and knows what his hips feel/felt like as in how much they can move ect ......he is looking very old even at just 10 and his eyes are looking sad at times and you can see how old he looks in them ...if that makes sense...........i love him so much this is breaking my heart to see him like this

So sorry to hear this, but I think the last two lines really kind of say it all!

The eyes are the window to the soul and I believe the eyes tell you when they've had enough. I hope you can see him through to Wednesday.

I really do not envy you, but I'm sending the best of thoughts to you both.

I am sorry your animal has had to go through so much. If they cannot treat the condition then maybe its best not to do another Xray, especially if the gen anaesthetic could have bad consequences. I wish you strength in making the right decision on the X ray.

Its a beautiful picture.
