If PAH were "good", they wouldn't have sold poorly rats or hamsters in the first place.

Good luck with the replacement gerbil - perhaps it would be better though not to take it and quarantine your current gerbil then source a companion from a decent breeder or rescue once you know your remaining gerbil is not carrying whatever illness killed its cagemate?

i ment good with replacements and sorting out ill/dead animals

its a chance people take when buying from somewhere like that but not everyone knows the horror stories and these were animals that i purchased way before even joining this forum so knew no better at the time

Oh absolutely, I've done it too. Wasn't meaning anything bad on you, just PAH. They look so impressive being a big chain it's easy to get sucked in, it's only with experience that you learn how terrible they are.

Not a big fan of PAH, and I also usually don't join in those pet shop threads because you just read those threads everywhere on the net.

We have a new PAT store just down the hill of the village I am living, in the retail park. They sell reptiles too, and funny thing is I don't know what they feed those reptiles because they only stock adult black crickets and those lizards are mainly babies. The staff in there don't know anything about reptiles because I did ask as I was desperated to get a tub of small crickets for emergency at that time.

I thought although by law, you can return your animals to any pet shop within a week, PAH's policy is only 48 hours.

they have offered to replace both gerbils because apparently it would be too risky to introduce another gerbil with her. im gutted i really like the gerbil i have she is really friendly and i dont want her to go back to living in a small crummy tank

You don't have to take them up on it, you could quarantine her, get her ready and get a better gerbil from a reputable source (ie. not a petshop).
