I'm not making a mint from it, but I know more about responsible breeding than average joe bloggs (all be it in rats!).

I have nothing to make from saying that that programme is essentially the dog equivalent of the Daily Mail (eg scaremongering load of crap).

Apologies if this is not allowed.

Pedigree Dogs Exposed - Dog Chat is the thread about this programme from a forum that I am a member of.

MHO anyone who delibrately breeds (or allows) the breeding of some of the animals shown on this programme (and seen in show rings/vets surgeries) and cannot see the problem, should not be breeding.

Inbreeding is wrong, on so many levels a lot of these health problems can be contributed to inbreeding and overuse of popular studs

Inbreeding is not "wrong", in many cases it is absolutely the responsible thing to do. People who say inbreeding is wrong do not generally understand it. Inbreeding is not the problem, indiscriminate breeding is, and that's what others have already said on this thread.

Say hello to Dennis for me won't you, I used to mod that board and he'll be about under several usernames still no doubt.

Which just shows you havent researched responsible breeding. Did you not read my message earlier in the thread? This shows that this kind of media misinformation does so much damage, when people believe it like this without any understanding of it.

Say hi to the folks on DC for me (used to mod on there many moons ago).

Dogs being born needing operations sometimes straight away, or within a year or so for entropian and hip dysplasia is wrong, very very wrong.
My bulldog died in the heatwave tis summer and another bulldog owner on another site came home to find one of hers dead in the house due to heatstroke as well.
Defend that then.

There's nothing to defend when it comes to poor breed standards and ailing health - but this has nothing to do with inbreeding, just naff breeding.

Inbreeding does not cause health problems. Poor breeding choices do.

Don't be so sure, he was banned while I was a mod too, full IP ban and the works, he still got around it with several other usernames. The man's a massive egomaniac lol. Very entertaining though!
