some rex are born with slightly curly coat, especially behind the ears, it doesnt make them an astrex, it just means that the breeder has been putting show coated rabbits together for too many generations and the coat is going too soft.
most show breeders cross in a harsh coated rabbit every 3 or 4 generations to stop it happening. thats why some rex get really bad sore hocks and others dont. the ones with the too soft coats have no density to their fur and it wares away, and can lead to them having to be put down. the astrex gene ( wa ) is a totally different recessive gene where the coat is waved, it takes the best part of a year for the full curl to show though. |

as said by foofoolafluff no-ones being nasty, were just querying the posters facts.
tbh the baby rabbits havnt even got their eyes open or fur through properly, so their colour isnt set in stone just yet. and they are looking more like muddy looking castors from the photos on the website, pictures can be deceiving though. |

Some Rex breeders for instance... who commented that many Rex are curly when young if their coats are not of show quality; unless you are planning to show them, that's irrelevant.... but, informative nonetheless. (Never forget that other people read posts and can learn from them, it's information sharing). Whether they are castorquins or otterquins it doesn't really matter - I can see the Harlie striping the the belly colour as they are, because as I said, I've seen crosses of this kind before.

but you run this risk with every thread, if everyone worried about it then no threads would be posted ergo, no forum! which would be pretty boring wouldnt it |

to make a magpie you need to get the chinchilla gene into your harlys. it will take out the orange and give you the black and white bands you`re after. |
