Saskia was laying down next to me purring away falling asleep whilst i was stroking her then all of a sudden she rolled over grabbed my hand and bit me (quite hard). i didnt do anything to hurt her at all, no warning nothing just suddenly bit me

its how cats initiate play

my kittens do it all the time will be stroking them and they start grabbing my hand

they dont realise that human skin is more delicate than their is

our cat Bessie used to do this ALL the time, once she even leapt on me in bed and I ended up with a black eye because she just launched herself at my head for no reason at all, it was all quite traumatic.

She hasn't done it for a long time thank goodness but she can "turn" on a six pence and I just tend to think that's the way cats are - unpredictable!!

I have found that a lot of unspayed females are like this but once they have been spayed it tends to disappear. You still do get the odd one that will always do it but not many. I have only one female who is like this but she had an unknwn start and was unpredictable from when we gt her at 5 months old. She was that bad it was felt unsafe to rehome her so she came to live with me

my cat used to do this...she would roll over to have her belly tickled but while tickling her she would all of a sudden leap up and smack me with her paw. she was a weird cat though lol she liked to roll about in the road

Bessie "adopted" us when she was 4-5 years old, we've had her for 4 years now and couldn't possibly re-home her due to her being so unpredictable too, we have no idea what her "story" is but I'm guessing it's not good!

I don't mind the launching it's the biting, kicking and scratching that I object to lol
