Default micro chipping litters

Does anyone micro chip their puppies before they go to new homes and if so can they remain registered to the breeder for life or can the new owner have their own details replace yours? And does anyone have their puppies ear tattoed? What age can it be done at and can they remain registered to the breeder for life?

you have to sign the paper work giving permission for the new owner to change the details

there is a part on the paper work where the previous owner has to sign to say details can be changed

i am a mobile microchipper i do litters from 6 weeks depending on breed/size

i would leave the paperwork with you and then as you sell a puppy the new owner would fill it in , they you send my copies back by post

it only gets confusing when the breeder cant tell there own puppies apart!!!

that would then cost the new owner to change the paperwork far better if the implanter leaves the paperwork name and address unfilled in and only adds the dogs details eg breed dob colour etc

the breeders would need to sign the paperwork on the day on behalf of the new owners basiaclly to say it was done and was allowed to be done!!

ps price wise its normally about £10 per puppy plus any fuel ontop if they come to you, dont fall for admin charges etc or petlog price on top its all included when you buy the chip

Default micro chipping

thanks.I have always had mine done at the vets, hadn't thought about mobile chippers.I'm wanting to know from the point of view that I would like them to be registered to me for life just incase something goes wrong in future and their lifes were for any reason not secure. Is that possible or would that be over controlling and unreasonable to the new owner?

As a breeder and qualified chipper I put all puppies in my name, do online registration with doc's generally with me before the pups leave ergo included in their docs/puppy pack etc.

I don't put them in new owners names purely because I've had a situation as the chipper where owners couldn't be contacted. I was contacted by a vet who'd got the dog in his surgery in a very serious condition needing permission to PTS, something I gave. This got me to thinking about my own pups, this incident was with a rescue dog I'd chipped, I wanted to be contacted as the breeder if such an event occured to one of my babies.

Prices generally range from £12.50 - £18 plus depending on area, most chippers I know give the price per pup including fuel if doing a mobile service.

I was informed by one chip company that two lots of deatils can be placed on the chip. Say the rescue and the new guardian.
But if I were the breeder I would only register my details on the chip and keep the owners details to hand. That way if the dog gets picked up as a stray I'm contacted and then can contat the owner.

This is tha National Dog Tattoo Register Website

I think I'm right in thinking you would have to give permission for the details of ownership to be changed.

And I dont think it would be over controlling or unreasonable of you at all. I think it would mean your a responsable breeder who will offer lifetime back up and care for that animal. Anyone who doesnt think that probably wouldnt be worth rehoming to anyway.

you can put both yours and the new owners details in the system

the new owners as the normal contact and the breeders as emergency ONLY contact

Default micro chipping

thats great, thanks.Ive never had a litter bigger than 2 before and as I don't breed frequently have been able to keep all.I have had a litter of three born now and two are dogs.As I already have one entire dog I shall have to part with one, realistically this time. The downside of puppies, worrying.
