Horse Thread!

Thought i'd start this thread...if not done before. Very proud of my boy today managed to get a fair bit of work out of him without him getting stroppy and throwing himself about!!

Anything goes on this thread really...diciplines, schooling advice, pictures....

I stopped for about 4years, but couldn't stay away. On my 4th now...and they always seem to get that bit more challenging....

Did you own your own or ride at some place?

Well done with your boy!

I have two horses. Charlie was my junior jumping pony, we did a lot of eventing til he broke his neck, pelvis and stifle in a xc accident. That kinda scared me and i decided i'd rather have my precious horse than win a few events so we retired from eventing! Once he was fixed (took a loooong time!) i started doing a bit more BSJA with him and once i was out of juniors we re-registered him as a horse and competed against the big 'uns! He qualified for the foxhunter second rounds but i thought that was pushing it a bit as he's only 14.2!

I've had him 13 years now, he'll be 16 later this year. He's mostly my hack now, he's a great old man and has so much character!

And I also have a young friesian mare called Una. She's just rising 4 and i've had her since she was a yearling. She was imported from Holland as a baby Im just breaking her now and thats going great, she is getting the basics down really well and has had two hacks so far and has been perfect each time.

She's about 16.1 now. Here she is:

Cracking little pony you got there!! Miss jumping quite a bit, i'm hoping to start nov eventing next year...not been in enough work for this years now as stupid big freeze froze the school + im now more a dressage diva and havent jumped him in about....well 4months ! Love the look of friesians (i'm a crap speller) Very elegant!! What are you planning to do on her? xx

I loved the XC but when we started doing the bigger stuff (the fall happened on a England Team tryout!!) it just worried me because i would never forgive myself if he'd had to be pts because of a competition I enjoy the showjumping and we still do a bit of that now

Una is hopefully going to do a bit of dressage, showing and showjumping in the future. Will see what she likes!

XC is fun, but i get what your saying. It is bloody dangerous and the courses have changed so much...back in the day they used to just be plain huge, but now its more about technicality. Honestly if your not set up for it bang on your a little screwed...unless you got a very honest horse that will sort it out for you!! I do much prefer dressage..i get a much bigger high achieving a nice trot pirouette than jumping round a 3'6 course...i'm old school u see still in the ole ft...cant do the whole metre thing

Thought I'd comment here, I'm currenting keeping 12 horses.. Had around 15-16 at one point but I've sold a couple.

Yes they are mine, most of which are kept at my home and some are kept at local stables..

I used to ride but I dont really at the moment, my sister competes and a few other family members ride to be honest
