She had a good night too! No fuss or noise once she had settled down.

Two wees outside and ate she her breakfast well Our son is besotted with her also! And so far she has seemed to gravitate towards him too which is really nice to see.

Cavalier puppies have a huge cuddle factor because they have such soft fur. Indicentally, did the breeder point out that she is technically a tri colour. It means 3 colours and she is indeed black tan and white. The black and tan, and ruby is called a 'solid' colour and should have no whuite on. Some breeders put the parti colour (tri colour and blenheim) to solid coloured cavaliers which always used to be a huge 'no no' because of the badly mismarked puppies which get born. Some really unscrupulous breeders still sell these mismarked puppies for more money than blenheims and the tris.
But as a pet cavalier puppy, she is very sweet. I have a black and tan dog called Jasper.

I realise she has a small white flash on her chest - from what I understand she may out grow this. Her mum was a solid coloured Black and tan and her father was a solid coloured Ruby.

On the Kennel club website they state that -
Quote:
ColourColour Recognised colours are:
Black and Tan: raven black with tan markings above the eyes, on cheeks, inside ears, on chest and legs and underside of tail. Tan should be bright. White marks undesirable.
Ruby: whole coloured rich red. White markings undesirable.
Blenheim: rich chestnut markings well broken up, on pearly white ground. Markings evenly divided on head, leaving room between ears for much valued lozenge mark or spot (a unique characteristic of the breed).
Tricolour: black and white well spaced, broken up, with tan markings over eyes, cheeks, inside ears, inside legs, and on underside of tail.
Any other colour or combination of colours highly undesirable.
So although she has a small white mark which is undesirable (from a show point of view - which we never plan to do) it doesn't mean she is not a Black and Tan.

Her grandad was a best in breed in crufts, so I am happy her breeder wasn't unscrupulous and we were very happy with the way she and the rest of the litter was bred and raised.

Yeah we have no intention of showing her, ever so I think the little flash is pretty immaterial.

We did refer to the breed standard when we started looking as we wanted to be well informed when we looked at potential pups, and its pretty clear that it says the white marks on black and tans are undesirable, not that a black and tan cannot have any white marks.

Either way, we are very pleased with her, she is a brave and confident little girl whos tail does not seem to stop wagging.

We had her checked by our vet today and all is well, so all in all we are very pleased with our new pet
