Why not buy kibble? I put my pup on Eukenuba large breed puppy food from 9 weeks, I believe the breeder already had him on it for a couple of weeks prior. I pay 55 quid for about 4-5 weeks

All mine are on barf and are doing well.
I buy my meat in bulk and freeze it.
I get one to two ox hearts a week...
And then the butcher gives me bones and meat scraps..
Sometimes free other times he charges me 50p!
Lol

I also add complete kibble as a bit of a filler.
Barf isn't just meat... It's veggies and fruit, pasta, eggs, etc.

But it's your dog so yes you do have to go with what's best for you!

I can recommend Pero

Pero Pet Food – Dog Food | Puppy Food | Labrador Life | SBT | Hypoallergenic Dog Food | Organic Dog Food

A small, independent British company. When I ordered online the delivery came next day. Quality ingredients and their staffy dog food .. well Ninj's coat was just amazing when we switched. Pretty good price too i think and they have trial packs available that include free treats and a voucher off next order so you can almost try for free!
kat & neil likes this.

I don't know why those wellbeloved sachets are SO small - I have a toy breed dog and we sometimes buy them to go travelling, but even then she has to have some kibble to bulk it out and she weighs under 6kg!

What about Nature Diet?
Naturediet Dog Food-Free Delivery | Dog products | GJW Titmuss Pet Store

Again, about 80p a pack but you're getting 390g as compared to 150g in a sachet, and the feeding guide for big dogs e.g. an adult DDB bitch @ 46kg would need almost 5 trays a day which would cost you £28 as an adult. How much does she weigh so I can work out what it'd cost you just now? Anyway, it's gonna be cheaper and I think it's better quality to be honest.

EDIT - just seen in your pup thread she's 6kilos just noiw - nature diet would be £10ish a week at the moment.

nature diet is what we feed our pregnant girls on top of there kibble from the place mentioned above..... good stuff but you will need more than what is said from what ive worked out, as they seem hungry on it- a friend feeds her bernard with no teeth it.....

also touching on teeth / soft food...... make sure u brush or provide teethbrushing treats

to prevent bloat large breed dogs should have theri food split into at least 2 meals, and they should not be excercised at all an hour before or after a meal.
wether the food is dry or not has very little to do with it?

i`d get dry kibble, you`re paying a lot for the 80% of water in wet food.

you can either soak it slightly, add gravy, or you can add small bits of stuff to make it interesting if you want, but its not really necessary?
scrambled eggs, tins of sardines, a bit of sachet or tinned food, mince, etc......
