Default Whippet/Bedlington cross needs his own home

He came to me as his owners have moved abroad, he is 12 years old, entire, & compleatly house trained, well behaved dog, just sleeps most of the time.

He isnt getting on with our entire rotty so will need a home with castrated males or spayed bitches, He has previously been a working dog, even though he is ok with caged pets he hasnt been cat tested so will need a cat & rabbit free home. He is great with kids but given his age Id rather he went to someone with older children or none at all as he needs his retirement.. he would be best suited to a working couple or OAP he will make someone a great companion

He is having a health check & 1st vaccs on the 29th so isnt ready to go to his new home just yet.
I do have rescue back up for him so anyone willing to give him a home will have to undergo a homecheck & sign an adoption contract.

Can anyone help this old guy

he has had the all clear from vet, he has two fatty lumps but the vet as said they pose no harm to him & given his age it is too risky to have him undergo aneasthetic to have them removed.. also same with castration

I think you need to change your vet. While I agree that fatty lumps are not a problem, 12 years is no age and should not be any kind of problem to castrate. My vet is perfectly capable of neutering very old dogs and has done so for me in the past. In fact the oldest he operated on was an 18 year old toy poodle with a mouth full of rotten, stinking painful teeth. I worried about the effects of the anaesthetic and he reassured me and told me that the modern ones were very safe indeed.
I would have no qualms in taking a 12 year old dog to my vet to be castrated, especially if he was a rescue and more likely to find a good home with other male dogs because he wasn't entire.

a toy poodle has a faster metavolism than a larger dog so there fore its not as risky in such a small breed

The difference between the 2 would be cancelled by the difference in age, plus the difference in metabolism thing doesn't sound right unless you are referring to a REALLY big dog

Right well Ive been told by more than one vet that its not worth the risk, he is a placid dog just doesnt like our Rotty.. He came here to find a home not a death sentence.. If people dont want to offer him a home just because he is entire then personally id rather he didnt go to them anyway.

Sorry he was a min poodle. About the same size as a Bedlington.
