Blow sadly and unexpectedly passed away last night. I want to assure people that we had no idea this would happen, we had even commented earlier in the day on how well he'd been doing recently and how good his colour looked. Thanks to all who enquired and were willing to take this beautiful chap on. I'm absolutely crushed about this and haven't stopped crying so no hurtful comments please, I feel awful already and no-one could possibly say anything I haven't already thought.

Night night Blow, sweet dreams. I'm so sorry we couldn't do more for you xxx

Mods please lock this thread. Thanks

Have been following your thread looking for a new home for him and I'm so sorry to hear the sad news. You did you best and I don't think anyone would say otherwise.

Thanks guys. Today's been horrific, we've had to take his viv apart which was all hand made to fit in the house so it's literally taken all day. My partner's had to go to work so I'm now sat here looking at a gaping space in the living room where his viv used to be. I'll be forever haunted by the image of him in my hands when I found him dead last night. I've never experienced anything like it and I hope to god I never have to again. I feel so awful, I'm sure there must have been something we could do. It was just so sudden, the only change in him was that he had started head bobbing more and was being fussy with his food but seeing as he was shedding that was nothing out of the ordinary so we thought nothing of it. It's not fair, he should have had years left but instead had a difficult life from start to premature end.

At least he had some love in his time with you, it's much more than some get. I know how hard it is to lose them, people think that a reptile does not affect you in the same way as other animals do but they do. I lost my favourite beardie early this year which I hatched myself and who was about 7 years old and I still miss her now. Time does make the pain better allthough you never forget. If I were you I would put something in front of the gap for now, anything will do, a table with a large plant on it, just something so that the emptiness isn't so in your face.

That's ok, I wouldn't have wanted someone to take him on and to then lose him a week later. We honestly didn't see it coming at all and it's been such a massive blow. We always knew he wouldn't live as long as most CWD but he didn't even make it into double figures. I just pray it wasn't something we did wrong.

There's an armchair and a plant there now but the gap still looks huge. We moved in with him and built the viv up so it's been there for 2 years. We're going to get a picture of him printed and framed for the wall where his viv was so we'll always remember that 'Blow woz 'ere'. People can be surprisingly insensitive when a lizard dies, I bet I wouldn't get stupid comments from my friends and family if my dog had died instead. Just because he wasn't cute and furry, doesn't mean I haven't cried for him. Sorry, it just makes me really upset
