If I ever get one of those, I promise to keep it between you and I, honest

By the way, all...........the website is still under construction, but the work in progress can be visited at www.morleyexoticanimalrescue.moonfruit.com

It has a few piccies on of our inmates and a few other bits, but is a work in progress, and thanks to wirralexoticsupplies (zach) for all his help.

Subject to collection and / or passing the rehoming process, we will have very little left for rehome.

We think we will only have left;
4 Degus
2 Chipmunks
1 Blood Python
1 BCI

Increadibly, since the start of August we have succesfully rehomed about 40 animals, with a few more coming available soon, subject to health clearance and our assessment.

So thank you everyone for your support. We are delighted with the progress we are making, and very soon hope to announce our website (thanks millions, Zach) is up and running with pictures of some of our longer term inmates, some of our rehomes and even one or two ugly trustees.
We also hope to have available soon a range of calendars, fridge magnets, keyrings and all the rest of the tat, starring our very own Vinnie the Meerkat.

Finally to Sweetlikklemunchkin, the 2 corns you brought to us have eaten like little pigs and shed in one piece. They are peaceful and happy and very tame (as corns are) and are going to local people who have expressed an interest in them. Both are families that have supported our work and both are known to us as keepers of Beardies who are in the peak of health, so the corns should have great homes.

Alan
thats fantastic news Alan, im so pleased they are both fit and well and are going to good homes, what a fantastic end to their journey x

Thank you, Marcia.

The piccies, BTW, are not stock photos. They are of the animals we have, usually while being cuddled, cos the buggers won't stay still otherwise!!!!

I cannot believe the rescue I have just been on.

I got a call from a very distressed lady who told me the green iguana she bought just a month ago had turned very nasty and was chasing and trying to bite her. She lives in Hull and I told her to bring it to me and I would help her, or take it in.

She said she couldn't even get her hand in the viv, so I drove to Hull to see for myself.

In the tank was a 3 foot Iggy, and TBH all she needed was a firm hand. She was fine with me, but the tank was totally wrong.

Nothing to climb on, no guards on the lights, an ordinary bulb for heating, a compact UV over 3 feet from the floor, no thermometer, no thermostat and a porous hardboard backing.

The story was she had been to a newish pet shop in Hull with her children (age 3 & 6) several times and the assistant gradually convinced her that the things she read on the internet were bunkum and that an iggy of that age and size was perfect as a pet for young children. He told her the Iggy was £100 and the complete setup, with everything needed was £180. The setup he gave her was the one I have just described.

Result?

She is £280 poorer, terrified of Iguanas, as are the kids and the poor Iggy has a good few issues too.

Inspection of the Iggy showed several layers of retained shed, gout, MBD and a missing toe. All longstanding, all present when she was sold her.

I come across all kinds of cruelties, but this is one of the worst. The pet shop must have known the condition of the creature and must have been aware it was a terrible pet for a novice with young kids, but sold her anyway, and with a totally inadequate set up.

No wonder I get so angry...................................

Just needed to get it off my chest.

Just need to clarify the above post.

There are some excellent pet establishments in Hull, and I know one or two post on here.

I am not refering to these at all, and this is not connected in any way with them. This is a newish shop which I hope will quickly get the reputation it deserves.

Sorry to anyone in Hull I may have offended.
