That is appalling Alan. I own and Iguana and know fully their needs and their temprements. I've had mine since she was 2 months old and she is now an adult. I have never been able to fully tame her and she doesn't like being handled. I don't show her fear and just get on with it. She's not too bad to feed and clean out but try and pick her up well you get the full bodied stance, dewlap fully extended and she starts hissing lol. I just tell her to give it a rest and try to impress someone who will be impressed lol. But to a novice these animals can be fearsome creatures and I fully blame the shop that sold this animal to this poor woman. Allthough she should have done some research first not all people think of doing so. Good luck with sorting him out and getting a good home for him when he's ready.

Since Thursday we have received 2 Iggys, that have both come as "aggressive & vicious", and yet both are really pretty good with me.
1 has the odd whip and the other had a go at me when I put him on the harness the owner swore she used with him (?). I think most Iggy problems are that they end up with the inexperienced, who are easily dominated by the Iggy. Lets face it, iggys will always try to be boss and get mating rights, and it can need balls to face them down. But this is as much the fault of the pet trade as the owners. On the plus side, the Hull lady has printed my e-mails to her that state the issues I highlighted on here and is passing them to the RSPCA with her complaint. Alan

I really doubt it.
The RSPCA know ( and care) almost nothing about cold bloods. And while there are laws protecting animals kept by the public, there seem to be none about selling poor animals with bad advice. Roll up to buy a Komodo Dragon. Perfect with kids, only grows to about 3 feet and will sit on your knee for a cuddle. Says a few words, and enjoys taking your dog for a walk. Set up (a banana crate) for just £200

I would love to name and shame 'em, but I am wary of the libel laws, and it is feasible (just about) that the story I was told was wrong, so for the moment, lets just say that these kind of animals probably don't belong in a tropical world ;-)

Another bit of shameless self promotion;
We now have calendars, notebooks, shopping lists, fridge magnets, keyrings, car stickers and badges with the photos on our website printed on them for sale. Details of them will be available on the website as soon as we get round to it!!!! Really cheesy and all between £1 and £2.50. God, we're so shameless.
