I don't believe the RSPCA have a clue about coldbloods, or care too much either, but..........................

They are considered by Joe Public to be animal police, and their backing is vital for us to achieve the public confidence we need to be effective.

So we are delighted that yesterday, we were granted full RSPCA status. This was achieved by a thorough checking that our facilities were at least Proteus standard, and that our knowledge and care matched that from Proteus.

We are now one of only a few such centres in Northern England, and are very proud of that fact, and we thank all those on RFUK who have supported and helped us on that journey, and look forward to a future of helping more animals at risk and increasing the publics knowledge about these maligned and misunderstood creatures.

Yeah, quick update.

She tells me she informed them and copied our convo about the iggy to them. Their response (her version anyway) was that the place in question was under scrutiny in several areas and thanks for her concern, but, according to the animal welfare act, the shop holds no responsibilty for selling an animal with previous health problems, a wrong set up for any animal or the wrong species for a given situation.
It is a case of caveat emptor, let the buyer beware, and it is the purchasors responsibility to ensure the animal and equipment are suitable for the purposes for which they buy it.

So the upshot is, tough. No laws have been broken, but we are aware of the situation, and there are areas the RSPCA are not happy with.

No help there then.

Got a few more descriptions as he gets older

venerable, antique, jurrasic and finally, as old as the wife

poor bugger has done nothing but breed for 8 years. Anyone married for 8 years or more will feel for him.
