Default Beautiful red/green hypo trans beardie with bad leg (chester)

I'm looking for a new home for this little guy - he hatched in October last year with quite a bad leg defect. He is basically "missing" his femur - his lower leg joins to his hip.

After a bit of a battle we got him eating on his own and he's now like any other beardie when it comes to food! Despite having a bad leg he gets around fine, and catches food without it needing to be slowed down. He can comfortably climb up and down rocks, although he struggles with branches.

So far his leg doesn't look like it's bothering him, but it is something you'd need to keep an eye on as he gets older - keeping him on paper might be a good idea to prevent excessive abrasion to it, although he is developing a bit of a callous on the bit that "drags".

He's a Hypo Trans, although with the cause of the defect being unknown I really don't want him breeding - pet homes only please! He's around 9.5".

£20 to stop freebie hunters.

He's very cute. Just a though, and I know it's expensive, but do you think that amputating that leg would be better for him rather than having it dragging about and possibly getting sores on it. Most animals seem to cope very well with missing limbs.

It's something I've thought about, and any potential new owner should also consider it as he grows.

At the moment it doesn't actually drag when he runs though - he lifts his hips and runs fairly normally, just without using that side. Because he's on paper and has quite a solid callous there for when he drags it when walking or turning, I'm not too worried about sores etc in his present condition. I think an operation to amputate it would be a lot to put a 9.5" beardie through, and the risks would probably outweight the benefits, at least at the moment!

Obviously if it became a problem as he grew he would need something doing, so any potential owner should keep this in mind!

Im in Wrexham and will take him. I am already building new enclosures for two disabled beardies so a third is always good.

True, but yes certainly something that may benefit him when older. Good luck finding the right home for him. I'm a bit too full at the moment to offer.
