Default Common boa

We have been given a 7ft(ish) common boa (believed to be female).
She is riddled with mites, has what i believe are burn scars all along her body, she has also got/had a problem with her tail, it looks kind of bent and she wont let me touch it. We only picked her up last night and we have sprayed her with mite off, bathed her and put her in a spare viv we had which is way too small for her so we need her re-homed asap really! She is also a little jumpy and hissy (as you could expect!!!) The previous owners have said she has bitten twice since they have had her, they bought her from a pet shop a few months ago. She hasnt bitten us though, even through her bath, but she did let us know that she had had enough!
We don't have the time to spend with her at the moment and we need someone to home her who has the experience with larger snakes, mites and a little temper! Temper could be just from mites though!
Please contact only if you can give her a home and the attention she deserves, i dont believe she should be bred from!
I would ideally like her picking up in the next couple of days. We are near Chorley, Lancs.
Thanks for reading
Vicky

Default In answer to some pm questions

We have sprayed her with MITE OFF.
We have bathed her again (but yes, she still has mites, she has had them for months,so has loads!)
She has been held a further 2 times since i posted.
She has NOT shown any signs of agression towards either myself or my hubby. But we can feel that she is tense.
She is being kept in a viv that has only paper and a large water bowl (cat litter tray, which she spends ALOT of time soaking herself in) and a make shift hide.
We are trying to find her a loving home quite quickly.

She really is a big gorgeous girl, we have measured her and she is around the 7ft mark, weighs 1st 7lb and im sure she would make some-one a lovely pet once you gain her trust

you need to use provent a mite or anything with ivomectin in it! Mite off is herbal and a crap product in my opinion!

you need to bath the boa in warm water with just a tiny bit of fairy liquid to break the water tension there for the mites will not be able to crawl back on the snake. You then need to remove and clean its viv/rub with a disinfectant safe for reptiles spray the newspaper and enclosure with provent a mite and allow to dry before placing boa back in its viv/rub. This chemical remains active for up to 30 days so one or maybe two treatments depending on how severe the infestation is will normally do the trick!

dont return the water bowl to the viv for a couple of days just my opinion although instructions provided say you can place it back in there more or less straight away. I like to keep it out to prevent the water being contaminated with the spray and reduce the risk of a snake ingesting the chemical which is toxic.

probably a better idea to clear the mite infestation before rehoming?? if you need any help with this please feel free to pm me.
