I drove to leicestershire yesturday to deliver 2 pythons to another member on rfuk who kindly offerd to take them from his home onto manchester for their new owner. He was telling me about his weekly journeys upto manchester and it got me thinking about trying to offer this service again.
Some time ago I offerd a courier service but it didnt go down well with some individuals, so let me first say no I do not have a DEFRA licence and no im not doing this in the course of buisness. I travel up to kent every sunday early in the afternoon, I am more than happy to take along any animals, equipment, vivs etc etc to be more specific I tavel from southend on sea to folkstone, So.... if anyone would like something delivered within these areas thats on route drop me a pm. I am sure there are some members on here who can vouch for me? and I am more than happy for you to come by mine with what you have before 1pm so you know where I live ect or obvioulsy can collect locally or on route. I normally leave at about 1 and only ask for contribution for petrol money so its a win win scenario. I cannot bring animals back from kent to essex as I stay up there for a few hours to avoid rush hour and dont come back till late so its a one way offer unless I plan on coming back earlier on certain occassions, I also sometimes go on thursdays too and will be doing this for at least a couple of more months yet till my partner finally moves down here. I keep a variety of exotic pets myself and know the concerns and worries herp keepers have when delivering their animals as this is what I think about when concidering courier for animals, just wanted to say they will be kept safe secure and warm. Thought I might just see If I could help anyone else out! I may also print off emails for delivery requests and ask that the seller and buyer sign their names next to their emails on collection/delivery so I cover myself and dont end up getting the blame from someone saying it hasnt been delivered etc as I have heard of this happening. I also wont deliver sick animals for obvious reasons and would hope know wants an animal couried somewhere unless in tip top condition. |

I have met James and we chatted about this idea.
He's a keen lad and eager to help out, I would trust him with any of my animals. James. Getting a ticket off DEFRA isn't a problem. Email them fo a form, fill it in and stick it in the post. About a week later you will have your licence to transport animals according to the animal welfare acts. ![]() Go for it, you will meet some lovely people on your routes. ![]() Dave. |
