"There is also the danger that children were exposed to with the presence of deadly snakes and the risk of salmonella. A risk to young people and to the public at large".
How is there a risk when the reptiles are kept in "take away containers" which manage to stop chinese noodles from spilling out everywhere. I'm sure people wouldn't put their animals in something which it could get out of!?!

"A risk to young people and to the public at large." Just like the stories in the papers about dogs attacking children for no reason. So why haven't all dogs been banned? Or a DWA liscence imposed for people wanting to own such an animal which could injure or even kill someone.

No more than the risk of being run over when crossing a busy road or a fire happening in someones home.

I'm also sure that the government would agree that swine flu passed from person to person would be more of a public risk atm than the non existant chance of being exposed to salmonella from a reptile show. We are the ones who are in contact with these "deadly reptiles" every day yet I myself have not ever suffered from salmonella poisoning or become ill due to my reptiles.

Were there not hand washes available to clean your hands with at the show?

"Let's not forget animal cruelty, which broke the law set way back in 1951 !
Tropical pets are totally unsuited to the UK climate. There has to be something very odd and wrong with people who want to keep a deadly reptile, or even a benign one as a pet. It borders on the perverse.
Some might argue that the biggest reptile in all of this is the head, Fairhurst himself !"
They are not living outside? The correct environmental conditions were provided for each animal, I thought, as they are when being kept at home? I agree that each animal didn't have a 'viv style' set up but there's only so much that can fit into "a take away container".

What's "very odd & wrong" about wanting to learn, gain knowledge & experience about reptiles? Something which these 'antis' fail to be capable of.

Which ones were the "deadly" reptiles?

Are we now all criminals too then?

Those reptile breeders must eat alot of chinese food!

I saw a Frog with a Flick Knife at the event it was ever so scarey!!!!

Seriously though, some of these Anti's and Reporters are coming across as very uneducated. I am sure if there was any distressed or ill animals at the event the Anti's will be able to substantiate their evidence by showing the Vet Reports or RSPCA Reports or Local Authority Reports that they gained through reporting these unfit Reptiles to the Authorities. Or are they saying that they took footage of these atocities and left the animals there to suffer?

Local rags using tabloid tactics LOL Seen it all now.

I presume a spokes person from the IHS will be contacting these publications to present a true reflection of the event?
