The only one I know for sure you can't bring back is any hedgehog species as that's the only one I wanted myself, and have confirmed from DEFRA that all hedgehog species need quarantine.

I found some information here,
http://ec.europa.eu/food/animal/live...g998_03_en.pdf This is the European legislation which the UK is part of, for the PETS passport scheme, and what animals are required to be registered for rabies. It confirms that "rodents" are not considered a Rabies requirement - but I was very specifically told that hedgehogs were on the phone to DEFRA, so it really seems better to play it safe and call or email them species by species perhaps if it's a rodent - but if it's NOT a rodent, and IS a mammal, then it is a rabies required quarantine animal, as far as I can make out It says (page 6) Movement between Member States or from a territory listed in section 2 of part B of Annex II of animals of the species listed in part C of Annex I shall not be subject to any requirement with regard to rabies. With Part C of Annex 1 being PART C Invertebrates (except bees and crustaceans), ornamental tropical fish, amphibia, reptiles. Birds: all species (except poultry covered by Council Directives 90/539/EEC (1) and 92/65/EEC). Mammals: rodents and domestic rabbits.
