Reptile Show Help

Hi

My names Sarah I'm the organisor of the Leeds Entomological Show, I want to start arranging a Reptile show however I have no idea who to contact and what the rules are. Any Ideas??

Have a word with the licensing department at your local council, if they say it is fine to hold a breeders meeting (aka reptile show) then that's the basic go-ahead you need.

Reptile licensing is a bit different to inverts, so no business sellers, pet shops, importers/wholesalers etc. will be allowed to sell reptiles at the show - there is absolutely no way around this rule as business sellers are only licensed to sell from the premises listed on their PSL.

But could they come with there own private stock if they had any? or is it a no no as they hold a shop?

No, they can't come with any livestock at all, regardless of whether they bred it, aside from inverts, which aren't covered in the PSL.

If a council, the RSPCA or any animal welfare organisation believes that anyone at the show is selling animals for commercial/profit reasons they can get the show shut down immediately.

Even shops that breed their own livestock cannot argue that the animals are not directly involved with the business, if someone's business is making money off animals, there's no clear way to seperate them from "business" and "breeder". The law is very clear on vendoring being legal for private breeders only, and strictly not businesses.

But businesses can sell dry goods and equipment, livefood and invertebrates. But no reptiles/mammals or fish unfortunately.
