Default Help re-homing a Terrapin

Hi,

My mother currently looks after a terrapin (approximately 17/18 years old) but as she now lives on her own and is growing elderly she is no longer in a position to look after it. I wonder if anyone can help with this. How can we re-home it? I've tried Turtle Rescue but they are unable to take in at the moment, so they have suggested your good selves.

Have a fluval water filter/pump, UV light, 4ft tank with stand you can have if needed.

Please feel free to message/email me. Address is bobafetting@yahoo.co.uk
Thanks
Scott

hey

there's a re homing section in the classifieds (Rehoming Classifieds - Reptile Forums UK) also ive asked for this to be moved into shelled because more terrapin owners hang out in there and you'll likely get a better reponse.

hope u find it a good home

Given the age I'm guessing it's a Red Eared Slider? Do you know what sex it is? And what area is it in?

You could try advertising it on the Terrapin Tank forum as well, there are a few people on there looking for rehomers if it's in the right area.

Hi Graham,

Indeed it is a Red Ear, Female (as far as I can remember...). In the Peterborough area.
Thanks for the tip about Terrapin Tank too

Cheers!

Much as I'd like to I can't set myself up as a full blown rescue centre, otherwise I would take it, and I'd have a few hundred others I expect! I have to be a bit selective about what I take in, and for the moment that means the smaller species like those I already keep.
