I mentioned what I think the ID of these are in your first post on these. I hope you don't mind the crosslink...

Your tortoise was most likely not cb but that helps with the ID. Some are calling those Testudo antakyensis. These are also called the golden greeks but the color on these go from solid golden yellow to what you have. You have a form that has orange skin tone also which is typical of a particular population... I susupect due to diet because I've seen Egyptian tortoises like that.

Anyway... if you didn't know where it came from it would be almost impossible to pair. The Testudo group is very difficult to ID and the ones that come from Lebanon/Syria are the worse because the populations vary greatly greatly. It's suspected that it is the altitude that causes that varience.

It is possible they can be Ibera... I doubt it.

Keep in mind that it's reported that Lebenon is used as a kind of clearing house for exporting WC tortoise where they could not otherwise be export tortoises.

I got a pair of adult CB Pancakes that were 'farmed' in Lebenon... go figure.

It shouldn't make you feel too bad... it was destined to die and you've got a good chance of doing right by it.

The issuing authorities will sometime put whatever on the export documents. I'll bet this door will be closed in the next year or so.

Don't feel bad hun. You'll never know for sure whether they were wc or not and if they were you didn't personally set out to buy wc torts. You're doing the very best you can for them and that's what matters now.

They are absolutely stunning looking torts. Just enjoy them and don't worry about things you can't change.
