Default Is it a sign!...?

i hav 1 boy and 1 girl spurthighed torts, recently the male keeps biting the females legs! i think it is the mating stuff, but i dont think shes very happy about it. he seems to be desperate but not her!? is it that or are they just playing!?

Jade I know you've not had the torts long, I think you got them from your aunt is that right? You've posted quite a few threads now asking about breeding and still haven't really had any answers so... maybe it would be a good idea if you posted some pics of your torts on here (plastron and tail shots) so that you'll know for sure that you have a male and female.

Also, some idea of how you're keeping the torts would help people to help you too. I know you're very keen to breed the torts and that you love them and your other reptiles and take very good care of them. I also know that you're only 13 years old so hopefully other, more experienced, keepers will be able to give you some guidance if you can give them a little more information.

Breeding tortoises is not easy you may have to wait years and year for them to produce eggs. The female needs to feel secure and in a perfect environment.
Tortoises are not like dogs a mating will not produce eggs.

hi Jade as Tina says we really need to know exactly which subspecies you have and whether they are male and female for certain before anyone can advise you on the best conditions to encourage them to breed if they are compatible.
